Fresh Lemonade

Fresh Lemonade, Anyone?

Summertime is an awesome time. It’s not just the nice, warming sun but the summer activities are something to look forward to too… like swimming, volleyball, biking, picnics and all that fun stuff. Oh, and don’t forget the lemonade!

Lemonade is not just a summer time favorite around here; it’s an all-time favorite. Fresh lemons, sweet and tangy…how refreshing!

Not too long ago I decided to make some lemonade out of the lemons that were sitting in the basket. So I was soon squeezing away and it wasn’t long before we were drinking this fresh lemonade!

FRESH LEMONADE BASE:

  • 2½ cups water
  • 1¼ cups sugar
  • ½ teaspoon lemon zest
  • 1¼ cups lemon juice

In a saucepan heat water and sugar over medium heat, stirring until sugar is dissolved.  Remove from heat and add lemon juice and zest. Chill.

To make the lemonade, add equal parts water to lemonade base. Enjoy!
