Hello Liver!… Fearfully & Wonderfully Made

Hello Liver!

This is the reddish-brown, wedge shaped organ located in your abdomen. It is the largest internal organ of your body, weighing over 3 pounds in an adult.

Your liver is a very important organ. So important in fact, that it would be impossible for you to live without it for more than one, or maybe two days.

One of the most important things the liver does is filter the blood coming from your stomach and your intestines. It removes the toxins in your blood. At any given time, your liver contains about 10% of all your body’s blood. Your liver works fast, filtering about 1.4 liters of your blood every minute. That’s a lot of blood!

Your liver also makes bile. Bile is stored in your gallbladder which is located under your liver. The bile from the gallbladder helps to break down fats in your digestive tract. Guess the liver is kept extra busy with all the rich holiday foods!

Wow! Who would have guessed this large, dark colored, odd shaped thing did so much for you? It is amazing, and yet another proof, that you are Fearfully and Wonderfully made.
